McGill Family Practice Policies

Below are a few of the McGill Family Practice policies. Please ask for clarification on any question you may have prior to your scheduled appointment.

Financials

Co-pays, deductibles, and other fees are expected at the time of service.

Your insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company. Co-payments are required by your insurance company and they must be paid at each visit. We will gladly file your insurance claim for you as long as you bring your insurance card and proper information with you to your appointment. Please have your current insurance information with you at each visit and please allow time prior to your visit to allow us to update your records, because policies and coverage can change since your last visit.

All self pay patients, worker compensation claims, and motor vehicle accidents must pay for their visits in full on the day of service. We will provide you with receipts so you can file for reimbursement.

Any bill not paid by your insurance in 60 days will be your responsibility.

All checks written on insufficient funds or closed accounts will be charged a $50.00 fee plus bank charges and the patient will never be allowed to write another check.

We reserve the right to turn any account with a delinquent balance over to collections – though we make every effort possible to work with our patients.

Cash, credit cards, or checks are gladly accepted.

Appointments

We make every effort possible to accommodate the needs of our patients with a variety of appointment times. However, we are unable to offer walk-in appointments.

We know that your time is valuable and we strive to be as punctual as possible to see you at your appointed time. To ensure that there is little to no wait time, please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to complete any paperwork that may be required.

If you need to see one of our healthcare providers immediately please call first so that we may make arrangements.

Should you need to change your appointment or if you cannot keep your appointment please call our office as soon as possible. If you make an appointment and do not show up for it, you will be charged a $25 fee.

Walk-ins are discouraged. Please call in advance if there is a true emergency so that McGill Family Practice can take the appropriate course of action and provide the best medical care possible, i.e. perhaps an Emergency Room visit should be made.

Refills

No refills are given after office hours or on weekends.

We never prescribe narcotics over the phone.

After Hours Instructions

McGill Family Practice has Healthcare Providers available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, do to our small independent business we request that any and all calls are for a true emergency. You may call 402-215-5412, but note that you may be charged a $15 fee for this service.

If this is a life-threatening emergency please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. It is difficult to treat what we cannot see. If you are ill after hours and you call we will most likely send you to the Emergency Room. If you think you need to be seen – go to the nearest emergicare or emergency room. You do not need to get our permission after hours.

If you want an appointment or have a question that really can wait then please call back during office hours.

If your question is regarding medication – call your local pharmacy.
